I write reported feature obituaries for the Democrat and Chronicle’s Lives Remembered series, telling the stories of Rochester-area residents and their impact on the people and communities around them. I conduct interviews with family members, friends and community sources, independently research and fact-check each story, and work with sources through the reporting and approval process. I also developed a consistent workflow for the series, from initial outreach and interviewing through writing, revisions and publication.

At Staple Vintage, I worked across sales, styling, merchandising and content creation for an independent vintage shop. I helped source and evaluate vintage clothing, assisted customers with styling and purchases, and styled merchandise and displays throughout the store. I also photographed styled pieces and mannequins and created short-form social media content showcasing the shop’s inventory and aesthetic.

As a reporting fellow with the Democrat and Chronicle, I worked on Revisiting the Rochester Narrative, a community-focused reporting project centered on Rochester’s Joseph Avenue neighborhood. I reported stories exploring the neighborhood’s history, challenges and ongoing revitalization, using a solutions-journalism approach and working directly with residents and community organizations. My work included interviewing, research, data-driven reporting and multimedia storytelling, as well as creating social content to help bring the project’s reporting to a broader audience.

As a staff writer for Floated Alternative Culture Magazine, I covered emerging artists, musicians and alternative culture through interviews, profiles and feature stories. I interviewed both touring acts and local creatives, including musicians and visual artists, and developed stories from initial research and outreach through writing and publication. The role gave me early experience covering arts and culture while developing my voice as an interviewer and feature writer.

At Small World Books, I researched, evaluated and cataloged used, rare and collectible books, determining value based on factors including edition, condition and market demand. I created online listings and helped manage the process of preparing books for sale while assisting customers with purchases and inquiries. I also supported the bookstore’s events and promotional efforts, combining research and organizational work with the day-to-day operations of an independent bookstore.

At Stephens Media Group, I supported live radio broadcasts as a board operator, managing audio levels, commercial breaks and other on-air elements to keep programming running smoothly. I also assisted the promotions team with station events, contests and community outreach, and helped produce short promotional spots for broadcast. The role gave me hands-on experience in live media production and the behind-the-scenes coordination required to keep both on-air programming and station promotions running effectively.

As an intern with Stephens Media Group, I gained hands-on experience in radio broadcasting, production and station promotions. I assisted with on-air and behind-the-scenes operations, helped with promotional events and community outreach, and learned the day-to-day workflow of a local radio station. The internship introduced me to live media production and ultimately led to my later role with the company as a Board Operator and Promotions Assistant.
